A woman is in a serious but stable condition after her car exploded as she tried to light a cigarette in Melbourne’s south east this morning.
The 34-year-old suffered serious burns to her face, upper body and arms in the blast on a residential street in Cranbourne East about 9.30am.
The car’s windscreen landed about 20-25m down the street after the explosion, Nine News reports.
She was treated at the scene and is now in an induced coma at The Alfred Hospital.
The cause of the explosion is unknown but a fire investigator was at the scene, the Casey Weekly reports.
