The explosion occurred on a highway in Damascus’ Mezzeh neighborhood on Friday during the traffic rush hour. Some reports say the blast happened near the Iranian Embassy.
SANA blamed armed groups fighting against the government of President Bashar al-Assad for the blast.
Meanwhile, Syrian security forces have clashed with armed groups in several crisis-hit cities, including Dara’a, Hama and Homs, killing a number of terrorists. Large amounts of weapons and ammunitions have been also seized from terrorists during the security operations in the cities.
Syria has been experiencing a deadly unrest since mid-March 2011, the violence has claimed the lives of many people, including large numbers of security forces.
While the West and the Syrian opposition say the government is responsible for the killings, Damascus blames ”outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
