FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Former junior ice hockey coach and convicted sex abuser Graham James was sentenced on Tuesday to two years in prison for abusing two of his players.
James pleaded guilty last December to sexual assaults in the 1980s and 1990s on former National Hockey League star Theo Fleury and his cousin Todd Holt, another junior player, when they played for him in the Western Hockey League.
The sentence was handed down in a Winnipeg courtroom by Judge Catherine Carlson.
Carlson was quoted by Canadian media saying James had “total control over the teens he molested, because he threatened to end their budding hockey careers if they said anything.”
But the judge also reportedly considered in her sentencing decision that James has apologized to his victims and experienced “an extreme degree of humiliation” over the conviction.
In court in December, James said he regretted his actions and took full responsibility for betraying the trust of parents who allowed him to coach their children for years.
Outside the courtroom on Tuesday, Holt told reporters the sentence was far too light, and “nothing short of a national travesty because we know childhood abuse has reached epidemic proportions in our country.”
“He conned the judge with his ‘poor me and I regret’ statement,” he added in a nationally televised statement.
Prosecutors had sought six years in prison for James while defense attorneys asked that he receive 12 to 18 months of community service in addition to a curfew, monitoring and mandatory counseling sessions.
Fleury noted that he and Holt have been in psychiatric therapy longer than the concurrent sentences handed to James for this and a previous conviction for sexually abusing another hockey player.
