Homicide squad detectives say they have made a breakthrough in the investigation into the murder of a Melbourne woman.
Sally Brooks died in hospital 10 days after she was bashed at her home, in Donvale, in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs, on July 11.
Police say a person made an anonymous call to Crime Stoppers last night with information about a man, seen near Mullum Mullum Reserve at Donvale, that morning.
Homicide Detective Inspector John Potter says it is the breakthrough police have been waiting for.
“The description of the man seen in the area was that he was tall, aged in his 40s to 50s, Caucasian in appearance, with short dark brown hair and was wearing dark clothing,” he said.
Detective Inspector Potter says it was a particularly brutal assault that took just days before she and her three children were due to move overseas.
He believes that information could identify Ms Brooks’ killer and they are appealing for the caller to contact them again.
“Please give us a call: we believe you may well hold the key to solving the shocking murder of Sally Brooks.”
