CALGARY – The Battle of Alberta briefly took to Twitter on Friday.
Shortly after news surfaced that the rival Edmonton Oilers had extended a contract offer to forward Ales Hemsky, reaction was posted on the Calgary Flames‘ verified Twitter account.
“$10 Million over two years for Hemsky is the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long, long time. I hope it happens. #whatajoke”
The tweet generated considerable buzz prior to being deleted.
Afterwards, the Flames posted another message explaining the incident: “We apologize for a tweet that was sent out from our account inadvertently. We are looking into the matter.”
Calgary and Edmonton next face off on the ice at Rexall Place on March 16.
