Conjugal visits: Lee Murray, the cage fighter involved in the 2006 Securitas raid has fathered a child while in prison in Morocco

The cagefighter who masterminded the £53million Securitas raid has fathered a baby boy, despite being locked up in a Moroccan prison.

Lee Murray, 32, was dubbed ‘the stopwatch’ for his role in planning the violent 2006 robbery – the biggest heist in British History – in which a family was abducted and employees of the security firm brutally beaten.

According to reports in a Sunday newspaper Murray is the father of a 16-month-old boy, who was born in Kent in 2010 to a 29-year-old woman, who is not his wife.

Murray’s full name – Lee Brahim Lamrani-Murray is listed on the birth certificate. His given occupation is ‘plumber’ and his hometown, ‘Plumstead, south-east London’.

Murray, who once fought Katie Price’s ex Alex Reid, has been married for 11 years and has two other children from that marriage.

Days after escaping with millions in used £5, £10 and £50 notes, the martial arts expert, who once ranked as one of the world’s top ten cage fighters, fled to Morocco with is trainer and friend Paul Allen.

For two months they lived a playboy lifestyle – gambling in casinos and spending huge amounts on clothes and jewellery, including, it is believed, 15 £30,000 watches and a luxury villa for a friend and relative of the king of Morocco.

The pair were eventually picked up by Moroccan Police in Marrakech and while Allen was sent back to Britain, Murray could not be extraditied because he holds dual English-Moroccan nationality.

After standing trial in Morocco for his role in the raid, Murray was sentenced to ten years in prison.

Moroccan authorities later claimed he had also been caught in possession of hard drugs and his sentence was extended to 25 years.

Murray was being held on remand at Sale Prison just outside the capital Rabat when the baby would have been conceived at around the beginning of 2010.

Conjugal visits, in which prisoners are left with spouses for prolonged periods, are sometimes ‘unofficially’ given to inmates as a reward for good behaviour.

However the Moroccan  prisoners’ guide states that such visits are not a right under Moroccan law.

In
an interview given to a martial arts magazine from inside his prison
cell, Murray bragged about the cushy conditions and how he’d rather
serve his sentence in a Morocco than in Britain.

Describing how rewards were often given for good behaviour, he said: ‘If you’re good, you get special s***.’

He also boasted of being allowed to watch TV, DVDS and even pornography.

But the interview reportedly infuriated Moroocan authorities and he was moved to the tougher Kenitra Prison and held in solitary confinement.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror on Friday, the mother, who has not been named, confirmed she had used Murray’s name on the birth certificate but said that did not necessarily mean he was the father.

She told the newspaper: ‘I really don’t want to talk about it. It’s not true. Just because his name is on the birth certificate doesn’t mean he is the dad.

You could put down anyone’s name. I could have put George Clooney’s name down.’

However under the rules of the British Birth Registry, the only way that she could have entered Murray’s details would be if he was there in person or if the mother had a statutory declaration from him stating he was the father.

Those who make a false declaration are liable for prosecution.

The Sunday Mirror quotes ‘a friend’ of Murray confirming he was aware that he was the father of a baby in England and that he had spoken to people about it when they have visited him in prison.

Lawyers for Murray said he intends to appeal against his sentence.

However they declined to comment on whether or not he had fathered a baby.

@Gary, Crewe, 14.59- he is likely to be free as part of the King of Morocco’s amnesty if he behaves himself in prison, as he seems to have, judging by the ‘conjugal’ visits he has been receiving and his friends will surely not forget his generosity to them!

Sorry, have to address this. MMA fighters are the most refined combat sports practitioners that there have ever been. MMA is full of champions from all forms of martial arts at international and national levels. Olympic wrestlers/judoka(Matt Lindland, Chael Sonnen, Dan Henderson, Mohammed Lawal, Daniel Cormier, Randy Couture, Hidehiko Yoshida), world brazilian jiu jitsu champions(Damien Maia, Roger Gracie, Fabricio Werdum, Jacare Souza), top level kickboxers (Alistair Overeem, Mirko Cro Cop, Anderson Silva, Gegard Mousasi) and most of them are good in all of these areas. Modern MMA fighters can do more or less everything.
Go to any MMA gym and even the novices would embarrass you.

hahahaha at Tony. how would your death touch kata fair in the ring?

Strange that some of the biggest criminals already seem to be successful in their chosen career.

how can you brag about being inside for 25 years i get TV and im not in a cell

I take it you don’t actually watch MMA where, the top martial arts practitioners in the world compete. And by compete i mean, real competition, just because you can smash some wooden blocks with your hand, doesn’t mean you’d be any good in a real fight. Which involves being punched in the face, really, really hard.

Really? So Judo blackbelts, jiu jitsu blackbelts, muay thai world champs, olympic wrestlers/ judoka are not martial artists then?

Yes, all the high level wrestlers, Olympians and high level black belts that compete in MMA are obviously clueless about martial arts. Take Satoru Ishii for instance. He is probably clueless about martial arts. He won an Olympic gold medal in judo but what does he know? Or two-time US Olympian Dan Henderson. That dude is obvious clueless as well. Or former Brazilian Jujitsu world champion Roger Gracie. I bet he is clueless too.

Lee Murray never fought Alex Reid.

You clearly have no idea of the technical ability involved in cage fighting these days! Probly got a karate black belt in your teens and think your untouchable. Get a clue.
