A German woman is facing 15 years behind bars after robbing the bank where she worked to pay for breast-enlargement surgery.
Mandy Lorenz, 23, was ‘obsessed’ with her bust but never had enough money for implants.
So she staged a robbery at the bank where she worked to be able to pay for the operation.
Obsession: Mandy Lorenz (not pictured) was so desperate to boost her breast size from an A to a C-cup that she robbed her own bank. File image
The District Court in Arnsberg heard how in May last year she recruited three men to rob her at gunpoint at a time when she knew she and a trainee would be the only employees in the Sparkasse savings bank in Werl.
The court heard how she sent an SMS signal to her recruits that the coast was clear for the staged stick-up.
Armed with an air pistol and a knife they threatened her on cue and walked off with 95,000 euros (£90,000/$117,000).
Later that same day, after telling police about the shock of the stick-up, she telephoned a cosmetic surgery to arrange for a breast enhancement operation.
Detectives smelled something wrong about her story from the start and she was placed under surveillance and led police to her accomplices.
One told the court: ‘She said she was fed up being as flat as a pancake and wanted to go from an A to a B or C-cup bust size.’
The trio will be sentenced next month.
