IT has taken about 36 hours and the use of aerial water bombers to contain two bushfires burning outside a small Queensland town near Longreach.
The fires started on Thursday about 40km northeast of Aramac in the state’s central west.
A spokesman for the Queensland’s Department of Community Safety told AAP the fires are burning within containment lines and the aerial bombers are now on standby.
“The fires near Lake Dunn are now burning within containment lines and the water bombers are available if needed,” the spokeswoman told AAP.
“There are now low wind speeds so the conditions are much better as well.”
