Remote communities in Western Australia’s northwest remain under threat from a bushfire that started on Christmas Eve.
Authorities on Monday warned there was a possible threat to lives and homes as the fire burnt rapidly towards Yanrey and Koordarrie stations.
A bushfire watch and act alert also remains in place for Marilla and Giralia stations, with residents advised to leave or get ready to actively defend their properties.
The fire began near Marilla Station on Saturday, about 1200km north of Perth, and has burnt 100,000 hectares.
Burkett Road, a major road on the region, has been closed.
Department of Environment and Conservation (DEC) firefighters are battling the blaze.
