The Watch and Act is for people north-west of Ellis plantation in the area surrounding the Nannup-Balingup Road from Wrights Bridge, east of Cundinup Road, south of the Cundinup-Kirup Road and north of Agg Road in the shires of Donnybrook-Balingup and Nannup.

The fire started in the Ellis Plantation and has burnt in a north Westerly direction. You need to leave or get ready to actively defend.

Here’s what to do:

Put your bushfire survival plan into action.

If you are well prepared and plan to leave, leave now if the way is clear.

If you are well prepared and plan to actively defend your home, make final preparations now.

If you are not at home, do not try to return as conditions in the area could be very dangerous.

Relocation routes and road closures:

If you live in the area you need to leave in a northerly direction.

The Nannup-Balingup Road has been closed between Maidment Bridge and Revelly Bridge. Motorists should avoid the area and be aware of fire and other emergency services personnel working on site.

BUSHFIRE BEHAVIOUR:

Crews have worked hard to establish containment lines around the fire. However, there are still unburnt pockets and active fire within the containment lines.

It has been estimated that the fire has burnt through about 170 hectares.

More than 100 personnel and 15 trucks will work overnight to strengthen containment lines. DEC crews are being assisted by FESA, local bushfire brigades and other agencies.
