According to a recent study by the University of Cambridge, only 2.5 percent of cases of women trafficking, one out of over 40 cases, are fully investigated by the British police.
This comes as international law demands victims of trafficking to receive necessary protection.
“It is shameful that terrified women who have been repeatedly raped and abused could find no one at police stations, courts or jails that they could trust or turn to for help,” said Prison Reform Trust director Juliet Lyon.
In August last year, a study into human trafficking in Britain found that the number of those being trafficked into the country is rising.
Three out of five people smuggled into the country became victims of sexual and domestic labor exploitation, the study revealed.
