A government commissioner examining whether a British Bill of Rights was needed resigned on BBC One’s Sunday Politics.
Dr Michael Pinto-Duschinsky told Andrew Neil he was taken aside and called a “maverick” over his views which he said were being ignored by Justice Secretary Ken Clarke.
He also said the commission was deliberately ignoring the wishes of the prime minister but it was important to make human rights “consistent with parliamentary sovereignty”.
