A PRIVATE jet, a gated property, a fast boat and a small but loyal team of house staff – these are the four requisite items that Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt need to enable them to relocate their family of eight to Sydney.
Two weeks after the federal government announced the film 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea would be made in Australia later this year, sources at Palm Beach claimed last week that Pitt and Jolie, attached to the project, had secretly flown into Sydney that same week to scout suitable accommodation for their family.
The couple, without their brood of six, flew in on a private jet under the cover of night to scope out potential luxury rental properties, claimed a local source.
Though yet to be confirmed as the stars of Disney’s first film production in Australia, it now appears the Pitts’ involvement may be contingent on suitable digs. Sources say the couple spent three days trying out three luxury properties at Palm Beach.
They were, said a spy, “all business” during their secret exploratory visit and “very pleasant”. There have been whispers this week that the pair are also considering a base on Stradbroke Island, with the $160 million film expected to be shot in NSW and Queensland.
The intensely private couple travel with their family in tow on long shoots, bringing tutors to give their children consistent lives.
Pitt is said to have been cast as Ned Land in the film, which is to be directed by The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo’s David Fincher, who directed Pitt in Fight Club. Jules Verne’s book was made into an Academy Award-winning movie in 1954 with Kirk Douglas as Land and James Mason as Captain Nemo.
