A six-year-old boy hit by a car outside a school in Sydney’s south ran onto the road and remains in a critical condition.
The 17-year-old male driver was treated for shock in hospital but is not expected to be charged, following the accident on Gannons Road in Caringbah, shortly after 3.30pm (AEST) on Thursday.

The boy remains in an induced coma at The Sydney Children’s Hospital in Randwick, where he was airlifted.
He has a fractured skull and pelvis and bleeding to the brain.
Preliminary police investigations have revealed the child ran out onto the roadway and into the path of a Volkswagen sedan.
