(Scroll down for video) A little boy was slapped in the face by an angry man during a flight bound for Atlanta, Georgia, according to police reports in Georgia.

A Minneapolis woman said that her 2-year-old son was traumatized by a man accused of hitting the boy and calling him with racial slurs during the Atlanta-bound flight.

The boy’s mother, Jessica Bennett, said in a statement on Saturday that her son has become apprehensive with strangers since the flight that took off from Minneapolis.

Rickey Joe Hundley, of Hayden, Idaho, has been charged with simple assault. His lawyer said he will plead not guilty.
Bennett, 33, told authorities that her son was crying when the Delta Air Lines flight prepared for landing. Hundley, 60, was sitting next to him and hit the boy in the face, causing a scratch on his right eye, she said.

Hundley told me to shut up the baby,” FBI Special Agent Daron Cheney said in an affidavit. “Bennett received help from several people on the plane,” he added.
Bennett said that the baby began to cry even louder after he was beaten.

“The family has many questions about how a passenger can be so wildly out of control as to assault a little child,” a police officer said.
Hundley was suspended from his post as president of Unitech Composites and Structures.

Unitech parent company said that the company was taking the matter seriously.
“According to our personal conduct policy of the company, we have suspended the employee pending the outcome of our investigation,” the company said in a statement.
