Donald Trump is demanding that all profits from CNN’s broadcast of next week’s GOP debate go to veterans. Personally I love the idea. But then again, it’s not my money!
Following news that CNN has been capitalizing on Trump-mania by raising ad prices for the Sept. 16 debate to 40 times their normal rate, the GOP front-runner sent a letter to the news network’s president, Jeff Zucker, to insist that he share the wealth. (H/T The Hill)
Trade publications have reported that CNN is asking for up to $200,000 for a 30-second ad, and that typical rates run as low as $5,000.

Trump wrote, “While I refuse to brag, this tremendous increase in viewer interest and advertising is due 100% to ‘Donald J. Trump.’ ”
The first GOP debate on FOX had a record number of viewers and Trump points out that it stands to reason that the next debate will be even larger.
“I believe that all profits from this broadcast should go to various VETERANS groups, a list of which I will send to you in the near future,” Trump tells Zucker in his letter.
“The veterans of our country, our finest people, have been treated horribly by our government and its ‘all talk and no action’ politicians,” He said. “In fact, some would say they are treated like third class citizens — even worse, in many cases, than illegal immigrants. It is about time that someone comes to their aid. Let’s start now!” he added. “This large contribution of many millions of dollars would be a truly wonderful thing for CNN to do.”
“It is about time that someone comes to their aid,” Trump concludes. “Let’s start now!”
CNN has yet to respond to Trump’s request. I doubt they will.
