A bomb has exploded outside a courthouse in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, as Egyptians vote for a new constitution.
Police sources said on Tuesday that the small, impoverished bomb hit the façade of the courthouse.
No casualties have been reported.
The bomb attack comes amid tight security as Egyptians are going to the polls in a constitutional referendum.
The constitution drafted by the military-installed government bans the formation of religious political parties.
The Muslim Brotherhood and its allies, which have been leading protests demanding the reinstatement of the ousted president, Mohamed Morsi, have boycotted what they call the “illegitimate” vote.
Meanwhile, Egyptian Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim has warned of a harsh crackdown on the protesters, saying, “The army has been put on high alert to deal with anyone attempting to disrupt the vote on a new draft constitution on Tuesday and Wednesday.”
Some hundreds of thousands of security forces have been deployed across the country to maintain security at the polling stations.
Some 53 million people are eligible to vote in the referendum.
Once the referendum is approved, presidential and parliamentary elections will be held later this year.
General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, the head of the Egyptian armed forces, has expressed his willingness to run for president. On July 3, 2013, Sisi declared that Morsi was no longer in office.
