Bomb blast kills 3 in Pakistan’s Quetta

The attack was carried on Thursday, when a remote-controlled bomb planted on a bicycle went off near a security check post in the provincial capital city of Quetta.

“At least three people including two policemen were killed and 25 others wounded in the blast,” said senior local police official Samiullah Soomro, adding that eight security forces injured in the attack were in a critical condition.

There have been no immediate claims of responsibility for the bombing.

On November 20, a series of bomb explosions killed at least two people and injured several others in Quetta.

Quetta has experienced a spate of violence and militancy over the past few months. Militant attacks and bomb explosions have killed hundreds of people in the city so far this year.

Pro-Taliban militants have carried out numerous attacks against Pakistani security forces and civilians.

The Pakistani army has launched several operations in the troubled northwestern and southwestern regions to flush out militants from the volatile areas.

Despite the Pakistani government’s operations against militants, they have still been able to spread their influence in various regions of the country and kill thousands of people in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001, when Pakistan entered an alliance with the United States in the so-called war on terror.
