The violent incident occurred on Monday morning when a powerful remote-controlled bomb that had been fixed on a motor bike parked near the road exploded as the passenger bus was passing by at a highway in Darengra area in the Mastung district in Balochistan Province, officials told a Press TV correspondent.
The bus was carrying at least 60 people, including women and children, and was heading towards the Taftan area near the Pakistan-Iran border when the explosives went off.
More deaths are feared as a large number of casualties are in critical condition.
The police have started an investigation into the attack.
The injured people were shifted to a local hospital in Mastung region immediately after the blast when a rescue team reached the scene.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack, but Pakistani security officials say the passengers of the attacked bus are victims of sectarian confrontation in the volatile region.
