FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda The civilians were killed in Afghanistan’s northern Faryab Province when their mini-van struck a home-made bomb of the kind frequently used by Taliban militants attacking military forces.
“Eight civilians, including a woman and child, were killed and six others wounded,” AFP quoted provincial police chief Abdul Khaliq Aqsai as saying.
A police convoy had been passing at the same time as the bomb exploded, he added.
According to Jawed Badar, a spokesman for the provincial administration, the civilians were travelling to the provincial capital for the start of the Muslim fasting month Ramadan, which will start in a few days.
Meanwhile, two NATO soldiers were also killed in separate although similar explosions in eastern and southern Afghanistan on Thursday, the military said without giving any further details.
Roadside bombs are the most common weapon of Taliban militants who are waging a war to overthrow the government of President Hamid Karzai, which enjoys the support of some 130,000 US-led NATO troops.
Although most insurgent violence targets southern and eastern Afghanistan, the militants have also intensified attacks in the formerly peaceful northern and western parts of the country.
A bomb, reportedly planted by the Taliban on Wednesday destroyed 22 trucks and tankers which were carrying supplies for NATO troops in Samangan- a province along a key highway that connects Afghanistan’s capital Kabul to the north.
Also in the same province, earlier in the week a suicide bomb attack on a wedding party killed 17 people, among them a prominent MP.
The 2001-present US-led war in Afghanistan, which has caused record-high civilian and military casualties, has become the longest military conflict in the American history.
Washington invaded Afghanistan under the pretext of combating terrorism.
Insecurity continues to rise across Afghanistan, despite the presence of thousands of US-led forces in the country.
