Homicide detectives are on the scene in Sydney’s southwest where a man’s body has been discovered in parkland near a reputed gay meeting spot.
A passer-by found the body near a walking track at Shortland Brush Lookout, in Lansdowne, just before 9am (AEST) on Tuesday.
The area is known as a gay meeting place, according to media reports.
Police say it is too early to speculate on the circumstances of the man’s death.
“It is very early on in the investigation at this stage and very little is established,” Detective Chief Inspector Glen Fitzgerald told reporters in Sydney.
He said he could not confirm reports the deceased had suffered serious head injuries.
Homicide detectives and Bankstown police are currently at the lookout and investigations are continuing.
