The navy has intercepted a boat carrying 27 people off Australia’s coast.
HMAS Glenelg, operating under the Border Protection Command, intercepted the boat north of Christmas Island on Monday, Home Affairs Minister Jason Clare said in a statement.
It is not yet known if the passengers are seeking asylum.
They will be taken to Christmas Island for security, health and identity checks.
