Bligh won’t say if PM is election asset

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh has refused to say whether Prime Minister Julia Gillard will be an asset to her campaign.

The prime minister will attend Labor’s launch in Brisbane on Sunday.

But Ms Bligh says she doesn’t know how Ms Gillard will be received in Kevin Rudd’s home state of Queensland.

“That’s not for me to judge,” she told The Courier Mail.

“I think she was widely respected here but ultimately other people will be the judge of whether she’s a vote-winner or I’m a vote-winner.

“That’s in the hands of people.”

Mr Rudd was actively involved in Labor’s Queensland election campaign before he unsuccessfully challenged Ms Gillard for the federal Labor leadership last month.
