Blast hits US-led forces in Afghanistan

The incident took place in Lashkar Gah, the capital of the southern Helmand province on Wednesday when the car bomber attacked the foreign convoy.

Police officials and witnesses said the blast left at least seven people injured, including the US-led foreign forces and some Afghan civilians.

According to iCasualties.org, at least 58 foreign soldiers have lost their lives in Afghanistan so far in 2012, 42 of them from the US.

The security situation remains fragile in Afghanistan despite the presence of tens of thousands of foreign forces.

The incident came in the wake of fresh violent clashes in several provinces of the war-ravaged country over Qur’an burning by the US-led forces, which left at least 30 people, including two US soldiers, dead and around 180 others injured.
