Black US teen killer released on bail

Zimmerman who was charged with second degree murder on April 11 was set free from a Florida county jail on Monday after putting up a 150,000 USD bail.

The judge presiding over the case agreed with the bail on Friday. In the courtroom Friday, Zimmerman apologized for shooting Martin. But the teenager’s parents appear to be unhappy with Zimmerman’s bond and with his apology.

He would live in hiding until his trial date and he can leave Florida if he is monitored with an electronic device, according to the court.

Zimmerman also surrendered his passport to the court.

The killing of 17-year-old Martin on February 26 sparked a wave of demonstrations across the US and revived concerns among the public over the matter of hate crime.

Many in the US questioned the motives behind the killing, saying the shooting was racially motivated.
