A former American intelligence official says US Vice President Joe Biden’s attempt to exonerate Washington from the crime it has committed against Syria is disingenuous, unbelievable and terribly wrong.
Scott Rickard, a former American intelligence linguist in Florida, made the remarks in a phone interview with Press TV on Sunday while commenting on Biden’s claim that Washington’s greatest dilemma in Syria’s unrest has been American allies, including Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, which had “poured hundreds of millions of dollars” into trying to topple President Bashar Assad.
“With Joe Biden, the vice president of the United States, claiming that the US is some sort of victim to their allies with Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Turkey, Jordan, Israel and others that are directly involved in this international crime against Syria over the past four years, is really disingenuous. It is unbelievable how terribly wrong and [this is] completely – I would say completely — criminal of Joe Biden to try to exonerate the United States,” Rickard said.
“But in fact he is very much aware that the United States has been directly involved both financially and clandestine to their operations with the CIA, and French and British intelligence, as well as Turkish and Jordanian intelligence and Saudi intelligence,” he added.
Syria has been gripped by deadly violence since March 2011 with ISIL Takfiri terrorists currently controlling parts of it mostly in the east. The US and its regional allies — especially Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan and Turkey – have been supporting the militants operating inside Syria since the beginning of the crisis.
More than 191,000 people have been killed in over three years of fighting in the war-ravaged country, says the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), calling the figure a probable “underestimate of the real total number of people killed.
“For Joe Biden to…deny the fact that the US is involved and try to scapegoat the Persian Gulf allies as well as Turkey is really noisy,” Rickard said.
“In fact, most of the individuals that are the State Department lackeys, like Joe Biden, provide the same rhetoric whereby they try to make the Americans look innocent and as a victim to the actual events they’ve architected and orchestrated throughout the region, and specifically in the last four years obviously in Libya and in Syria,” he stated.
“And these so-called dilemmas that he is talking about, these are direct relationships with the Saudis, these are direct relationships with the Turks, and they are completely complicit, and for the US to denying this in public and lying to our students at Harvard University, this is a part of the problem that the US public is completely misled by their politicians and their news media,” he noted.
