Bialik tops the state in the VCE

Melbourne’s Bialik students have achieved First in the State in the Victorian Certificate of Education, the third time over the last five years.

Students who achieved 99+

With the non-selective college’s commitment to developing a Culture of Thinking, pioneered over 10 years ago in collaboration with Harvard University, Bialik students are encouraged to question and challenge themselves beyond the curriculum, develop abstract and critical thinking skills and prepare, not only for examinations but more importantly, for life beyond school. Bialik College has been among the top three schools in Victoria for six years.

Dux Zac Weller

      • 13.75% of students achieved an ATAR of 99 or above, placing them in the top 1% of the State, whilst 48.75% of students attained 95 or above, placing them in the top 5% of the State;
      •  65% scored 90 or above, placing them in the top 10% of the State;
      •  An incredible 39.9% of study scores were 40 or above placing them in the top 8% of the State;
      •  The median ATAR was 94.6;
      •  The median study score was 38 and 39.9% of study scores were 40 or above, and
      •  Mazel Tov to College Dux, Zac Weller who achieved an ATAR or 99.9.

Principal Jeremy Stowe-Lindner said ‘As the leading year level in the school, the Class of 2020’s menschlichkeit (individual and collective decency), community activism, mutual support, charitable activities and leadership are an inspiration to all of us.

In a unique year our Year 12s have shown resilience, working consistently on campus and at home, supporting each and their community. The Bialik community is one of plurality and inclusion and we congratulate every single one of our students today. The spectacular achievement of the Class of 2020 is a testament to the hard work of the students, dedication of their teachers and support and nurturing of their families.’

Dux Zac Weller told J-Wire:  “At the moment I’m pretty certain I’d like to pursue medicine.”
