The Beijing municipal government released a statement, saying that 25 were drowned in the flooding, induced by the downpour, and six more died when their house collapsed. It also said that one man was killed after being struck by lightning and five others were electrocuted, Xinhua reported on Sunday.
The statement added that the bodies of 22 victims have been identified.
The heaviest rain in six decades pounded the capital on Saturday, causing more than 500 flights to be cancelled or delayed at the Beijing International Airport.
The rainstorm has also damaged some power supply stations and led to blackouts in parts of the city.
