Barnett pleased missing Perth woman found

West Australian Premier Colin Barnett says he is pleased a young Perth woman who went missing in Argentina has been found safe and well.

Emma Kelly, 23, was reported missing on Boxing Day after going hiking in the scenic Cajon del Azul canyon, near El Bolson, a town in the southern Andean foothills.

She was found three days later, dehydrated, disorientated and suffering from injuries.

Ms Kelly was flown to a local hospital and is now recovering from her ordeal.

Argentinian police have arrested a 30-year-old man in relation to an alleged attack on Ms Kelly.

Mr Barnett said while not wanting to comment on the specifics of the case, he was pleased Ms Kelly had been found.

“I am very pleased as I think everyone is that she has been safely found and is now obviously recuperating and seems to be in fairly good health,” Mr Barnett said.

“But obviously when you travel and if you travel to remote to parts of the world, always take care.”
