Police investigating the death of a baby on Brisbane’s northside earlier this year say fresh evidence has shed new light on the case.
The baby’s body was found in a washing machine in a home at Bald Hills on Australia Day, but until now police had not released any details.
Detective Senior Sergeant Todd Reid says investigators were concerned from day one but had to wait for forensic testing.
“Detectives from the North Brisbane Child Protection and Investigation unit were called to an address at Bald Hills – an infant child was located deceased in a domestic washing machine at an address and since that time detectives have been investigating that matter,” he said.
There is no word on the baby’s gender or age.
A major incident room has been set up at the Boondall police station.
