TEHRAN (Tasnim) – A senior adviser to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad praised a recent letter by the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution to Western youth, saying Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei views the world as a human family and sees no difference among the followers of different religions.
Ayatollah Khamenei’s second letter to the youth in the West was released on Sunday, following the recent terrorist attacks in Paris.
In this letter, the Leader urged the young people in the West to help pave the ground for enhanced interaction with the Muslim world.
In a Tuesday interview with the Tasnim News Agency, Bouthaina Shaaban, the political and media Adviser to Syria’s president, said the recent letter indicates that the Leader views human beings “beyond geographical borders”.
“I believe the Supreme Leader sees the world as a human family, but the West does not have such a view,” she stated.
Shaaban added that Ayatollah Khamenei in this letter has not made a distinction between Muslims and Christians, adding, “This shows that the Leader views the youth, the West, and the human society indiscriminately.”
The fact that the two letters by the Supreme Leader were written after terrorist attacks in the West is per se a significant issue, because it reveals how much the Leader cares about all human beings, she added.
The Leader does not think as the Western administrations do, Shaaban said, comparing global reactions toward the killing of Syrian people.
“We feel sad when our children and women are killed and we receive no condemnation or reaction from the West, as if the lives of people in our country or the region were not equal to those of Western citizens,” the Syrian adviser regretted.
The Supreme Leader in this letter underlines that “we care about human beings and we emphasize the humanity of human beings, anywhere they are,” she went on to say.
