Austria exhibits Iranian artworks

Come Invest in Us. You’ll Strike Gold exhibits works by Iran’s Shahram Entekhabi, Babak Golkar, Babak Kazemi, Leila Pazouki, Sara Rahbar and Baktash Sarang along with artistic creations from the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

Adel Abidin from Iraq, Haig Aivazian and Ninar Esber from Lebanon, Kader Attia, Faycal Baghriche, Karim Ghelloussi and Djamel Kokene from Algeria, Taysir Batniji and Sama Al Shaibi from Palestine, Bouchra Khalili and Majida Khattari from Morocco, Ahmed Mater and Hajra Waheed from Saudi Arabia, and Oraib Toukan from Jordan are the other artists featured in the event.

Curated by Diana Wiegersma and organized by Hilger BrotKunsthalle gallery in collaboration with the Nadour Collection, the exhibition will run until November 3, 2012.

The title of the exhibition is taken from the words spoken by Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika after he was elected for the first time in 1999.

Come Invest in Us. You’ll Strike Gold scrutinizes the scope of Western, as well as Arab, economic and financial interests which are at stake in the MENA region.

Visitors can see different perspectives of artists on the contexts, consequences and aftermaths of the various investments, transactions and contracts that have been made with and within the region.
