CEREMONIES are being held across the nation to mark the ninth anniversary of the Bali bombings that killed 88 Australians.
In Sydney’s east, a memorial service is being held at the northern end of Coogee Beach to remember the 20 locals who died in Indonesia’s worst terror attacks.
Hundreds of people, including victims’ families and survivors, are expected to gather at Dolphins Point from 10am (AEDT) at the event organised by Randwick City Council.
The Coogee Dolphins rugby league club, who lost several of their members in the bombings, are also likely to have a contingent at the ceremony.
Deadly car and suicide bombs ripped through two Kuta nightclubs on October 12, 2002, killing 202 people including 88 Australians.
The death toll included 43 people from NSW.
Abu Bakar Bashir, the alleged spiritual leader of Jemaah Islamiah, has been jailed for 15 years for his role in masterminding the terror attacks, which were financed by al-Qaeda.
