Australia set to withdraw troops early from Afghanistan
Telegraph – Julia Gillard has announced an early withdrawal of Australian troops from Afghanistan, declaring that the world’s war-weary democracies want their “sons and daughters to return”. The country’s 1,500-strong deployment of troops could begin pulling out as early as next month and the great bulk would be home by the end of 2013 – a year earlier than expected. Her surprise announcement followed a French declaration in January that it too would bring troops home early. Read Article
