(NaturalNews) The fact that the mainstream corporate-owned media gets about as much wrong about leading GOP presidential contender Donald Trump as the Republican establishment that has threatened to abandon him if he secures his party’s nomination, is nothing new. But even the corporate-owned can be a little over the time when it comes to attempts to define “The Donald.”
As reported by the Powerline conservative blog, every time the mainstream press launches into Trump, the “truth is optional.” Here are some examples.
In its attempt to debunk Trump’s claim that he saw “thousands” of people celebrating in and around New Jersey and New York City when the World Trade Center was attacked on Sept. 11, 2001, National Public Radio scolded:
“[W]hen he was questioned by ABC News today about his assertion that ‘thousands and thousands of people’ cheered the collapse of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 just across the river in New Jersey, Trump doubled down.
“‘It did happen. I saw it. It was on television. I saw it,’ Trump said.
“George Stephanopoulos responded, ‘You saw that with your own eyes? Police say it didn’t happen.’
“Trump said: ‘George, it did happen. There were people that were cheering on the other side of New Jersey where you have large Arab populations. They were cheering as the World Trade Center came down.’
“We asked our library to look through contemporaneous news reports,” NPR reported. “They tell us that that they could not turn up any news accounts of American Muslims cheering or celebrating in the wake of Sept. 11.”
Who’s doubling down on being wrong?
In addition, The New York Times got into the Trump-bash over the same issue, NPR noted:
“There were cheers of support in some Middle Eastern countries that day, which were broadcast on television. But a persistent Internet rumor of Muslims celebrating in Paterson, N.J., was discounted by police officials at the time. A search of news accounts from that period shows no reports of mass cheering in Jersey City.”
Not to be outdone in the pile-on, The Associated Press noted:
“Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump says he saw people cheering the Sept. 11 attacks across the river in New Jersey — but there’s no evidence that ever happened. …
“Footage of Muslims in Middle Eastern countries cheering news of the attacks were broadcast on television.
“But there is no evidence of mass celebrations by Muslims in Jersey City, which sits right across the Hudson River from Lower Manhattan.”
So, it must not have happened as Trump says it did, right? I mean, all these media sources can’t be wrong – right?
Powerline blogger and co-founder John Hinderacker found it odd that all of these high-dollar news agencies could not find what he says it took him a few minutes – and $3.95 – to locate and obtain: Of all things, a Washington Post report dated Sept. 18, 2001, that said, in part:
“In Jersey City, within hours of two jetliners’ plowing into the World Trade Center, law enforcement authorities detained and questioned a number of people who were allegedly seen celebrating the attacks and holding tailgate-style parties on rooftops while they watched the devastation on the other side of the river.”
The mainstream media just doesn’t get it that Trump is not your ‘run of the mill’ presidential contender
And there is this follow-up from Irfan Khawaja in July 2004:
“In an email to me on Dec. 16, 2003, Kovaleski indicated that his information had come from the Jersey City Police Department, and that he had confirmed the JCPD’s information via interviews of eyewitnesses of the celebration.”
All of which led Hinderaker to conclude, correctly: “I think that these news outlets are so hysterically eager to discredit any concerns about Islam that they won’t let something as minor as the facts get in their way. There is dishonesty here, but it is on the part of NPR, the New York Times and the Associated Press, not Donald Trump.”
There is simply no doubt about that.
So far the MSM and establishment wings of both major political parties have been unsuccessful in their bid to unseat or discredit Donald Trump. Each time they have tried, it is they who have taken a credibility hit, not the billionaire real estate mogul from the Big Apple. That’s because they don’t get that he’s not your stereotypical presidential contender, and that he doesn’t need them. In fact, it’s the other way around.
