Armed intruder fatally stabbed

A MAN who stabbed and killed an intruder who had broken into his southwestern Sydney home may face criminal charges.

A 30-year-old man broke into a house in Yagoona yesterday afternoon, armed with a stun gun, and threatened 54-year-old Donald Brooks as he emerged from his backyard.

The intruder was allegedly stabbed in the arm and chest and fled in a car driven by an alleged accomplice.

He called an ambulance soon afterwards and was taken to Liverpool Hospital, where he later died.

Chief Superintendent Peter Gillam of Bankstown local area command refused to rule out the possibility that Mr Brooks may be charged, despite the fact that he was defending himself and his home.

He confirmed several men involved in the incident, including the driver, had been interviewed.

Police said there was no suggestion the attacker knew his victim.
