Syrian residents in Homs have been witnessing difficulties in transportation around the city over the past weeks, a Press TV correspondent reported on Tuesday.
Armed groups threaten public buses that used to transport the people for cheap prices. The only solution to this issue is taking taxi cabs, which are considered unaffordable for many residents in Homs.
Garbage collectors also face threats and difficulties due to the presence of armed men across the city. The streets of Homs have increasingly been littered over the past weeks.
The people of Homs demand an end to the presence of unknown armed groups that are harming security in the city.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011, with demonstrations being held both against and in favor of President Bashar al-Assad.
The West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of being behind the months-long unrest, but Damascus says “outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” are responsible for the turmoil, which it says is being orchestrated from abroad.
