The Arizona Cardinals will make history this Sunday as they become the first-ever NFL team to launch a retail sportsbook within its home stadium.
The Cardinals open their season with a visit from the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday as they look to replicate the 7-0 start they made to the regular season last year.
The State Farm Stadium, which boasts a capacity of 63,400 passionate fans, will now welcome a 17,000 sq ft sportsbook to its ranks spreading across two stories.
In addition, there is a 265 sq ft video wall and a total of 38 live viewing screens that will enable fans to watch the action unfold whilst they are placing their wagers. Food and drink will also be accessible to complete the experience for football fans.
BetMGM are the Cardinals’ chosen operator for this partnership and CEO Adam Greenblatt described the facilities as ‘revolutionary’.
“The BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium is one of the most revolutionary additions an NFL stadium has seen in decades and unlike anything, fans have encountered on gamedays,” he said. “BetMGM shares the Arizona Cardinals’ vision in pursuing new ways to break barriers and entertain fans.”
The sportsbook is opening at 9am on Sunday morning ahead of the game and is expected to be a sell-out. It will be open for all Cardinals home matches for the upcoming season.
Cardinals owner Michael Bidwill said: “We are proud and thrilled to be the NFL’s first team to offer its fans this type of unprecedented amenity and innovative experience. The BetMGM Sportsbook at State Farm Stadium gives us a chance to engage current and potential fans on a year-round basis in a fun, entertaining and responsible way.”
