The protesters were employees from Argentine Workers’ Central Union and the Gaucho Argentino movement.
Demonstrators headed into busy Las Heras Avenue, blocking traffic and threatening to take further actions if their demands are not met.
They chanted “Europe’s crisis cannot be paid by Argentine workers” and “Immunity is not impunity.”
The employees also rallied outside the embassy of the Czech Republic where they urged Ambassador Stepan Zajac to reinstate custodial workers Dario Chejolan and Fabian Calderon, who were fired without good cause in March.
Fired employee Fabian Calderon said most embassy workers in Argentina are not awarded permanent jobs facing “persecution” and “discrimination.”
He added that some of the employees might even get laid-off and not to receive their termination payment as legal vacuum still allows diplomatic corps and foreign services to dismiss court decisions based on Argentina’s labor legislation.
Meanwhile, protesters called on Argentina’s Foreign Ministry to intervene and force foreign countries to abide by national laws.
