FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday that Moscow was studying the new Arab League plan for Syria but that it needed “clarification.”
Lavrov, however, stressed that violence must end before any forces could be sent there.
“In order to deploy a peacekeeping mission, you need the agreement of the receiving side,” Lavrov said in Moscow after talks with his United Arab Emirates counterpart Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahayan,
“In other words, you need to agree something resembling a ceasefire. But the problem is that the armed groups that are fighting the Syrian regime do not answer to anyone and are not controlled by anyone,” he added.
Lavrov’s remarks came a day after the Arab League said that it was ending all diplomatic cooperation with Syria and promised to begin contact with the country’s opposition and called for a joint Arab-UN mission to end Syria’s 11-month unrest.
Russia has repeatedly said that negotiations are the only way to end the Syrian unrest, not foreign interference and force.
Damascus, however, has rejected the recent Arab League plan as interference in its internal affairs.
Syrian Ambassador to Egypt Yusef Ahmed described the decision an indication of the hysteria of AL member states after failing to encourage UN intervention in Syria’s affairs.
China has also repeatedly said Syria’s problems must be resolved using diplomatic means.
“China hopes all relevant parties can keep dialogue and communication to play a positive and constructive role in politically resolving the Syrian issue and easing the country’s tension,’’ Foreign ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said.
