Arab League Secretary-General Nabil al-Arabi said Wednesday that a planned joint Arab military force would be ready to intervene anywhere it was needed.
“All Arab countries are enthusiastic about creating the joint military force, which has been a dream of the Arabs for more than 70 years,” al-Arabi told reporters on the sidelines of a ministerial meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
Last month, the chiefs-of-staff of various Arab armies agreed in Cairo on the need to establish a joint Arab military force.
Top brass from various Arab militaries are now expected to refer the protocol regulating the planned force to an Arab summit – slated for March of next year – for endorsement by Arab leaders.
