A member of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Syrian National Council, Halit Hoca, said the gathering was held to facilitate joint actions among the opposition groups.
It also aims to reach a unanimous viewpoint among opposition groups regarding the unrest in the country.
The anti-Syrian meeting would be held in Istanbul on Sunday and Monday.
On Tuesday, Damascus accepted a six-point plan by UN-Arab League envoy Kofi Annan to end the unrest in Syria.
Syria has been experiencing unrest since mid-March 2011.
The West and the Syrian opposition accuse the government of killing the protesters.
Damascus, however, blames ”outlaws, saboteurs and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, insisting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
