Another UK soldier killed in Afghanistan

The 37-year-old from St Neots, Cambs, died while attempting to assist a group of Afghan National Army soldiers by leading his troops forward. They were then pinned down by an attack from the oppositions.

Cpl Guy was in the army for 19 years and took part in eight operational tours in Bosnia and Iraq, three in Northern Ireland and three in Afghanistan.

He has left behind his wife, mother, father and two sisters. Cpl Guy’s mother said he was born into a military family who were stationed at RAF Coltishall.

Guy is the 419th member of British forces to have been killed since the invasion of Afghanistan by US-led forces began in October 2001.

Moreover, violence in Afghanistan has increased since members of the US forces burned 30 copies of the holy Quran back in February that they claim was an accident, followed by the deadly rampage incident where a US Sergeant on SEAL team shot dead 16 innocent civilians including nine children and three women.

Reports say that Militants seek to avenge the deaths of the 16 innocent civilians and have condemned the massacre as a “blood-soaked and inhumane crime” by “sick-minded American savages”. Taliban has stated on its website that it vows to take revenge, making the situation for British forces more chaotic and volatile.
