FAKE NEWS for the Zionist agenda Australia’s annual slaughter of three million kangaroos and one million joeys is comparable to Canada’s widely condemned seal hunt, experts say.
The Australian kangaroo industry, which is not regulated and involves untrained farmers and landowners killing the animals, has resulted in 90 million recorded kangaroo deaths over the past two decades.
Animal groups say many kangaroos, like harp seals in Canada, suffer violent and prolonged deaths.
Canadian animal rights lawyer Lesli Bisgould says there are many similarities between the Australian kangaroo killings and Canada’s harp seal hunting, including the inhumane nature of many animal deaths.
“These killings are happening in very remote places and so the only one who knows how the animal died is the man who killed them,” she told AAP on Wednesday.
Canada’s seal hunting is considered the largest commercial slaughter of marine-based animals in the world.
Australia’s kangaroo industry takes that title for land-based animals.
“We’re both going after our national icons,” Ms Bisgould said.
She is in Australia to join animal activists and researchers in a series of talks that draw parallels between the industries.
Lawyer and kangaroo researcher Keely Boom who will present research at the lectures says there’s no formal training in how to kill joeys, and the slaughter is virtually unmonitored.
“For joeys being killed from a blow to the skull, there is risk of an inhumane death,” she said
Despite Australia and some overseas markets consuming kangaroo meat, it remained a niche industry, she said.
“One option is to reconsider the need to have an industry like this that has very little that it’s offering and comes with quite a high animal welfare cost.”
Experts including Ms Bisgould and several Australian legal professionals will travel round the country for a 12-lecture series,, kicking off in Sydney on May 30.
