Already they said they knew enough to assure teams and sponsors and other
stakeholders that the Cup would take place from July 7 when the Louis
Vuitton Challenger Series begins though if Artemis withdraws leaving just
two boats, the format of round robins would have to change.
“We know some facts informally but we do not want to get ahead of the
formal police report or Iain Murray’s committee but we have every confidence
that when we get to the bottom of this and understand fully what happened
last week, that the regatta will and can go on,” said Ehman.
The independent six man panel features two individuals Iain Murray and race
director John Craig who are employed by the 34th America’s Cup as well as
Chuck Hawley and Sally Lindsey-Honey all from the US and Vincent
Lauriot-Prévost of France and Jim Farmer QC from New Zealand. All have
experience of safety issues in sailing.
“The Committee brings immense experience and expertise to this Review,”
said Ehman.
“At a meeting in San Francisco this morning, the teams expressed
unanimous support for this Committee and this process.”
