The American Freedom Alliance (AFA) is “a non-political, non-aligned movement which promotes, defends and upholds Western values and ideals.”
The AFA “sponsors conferences, publishes opinions, distributes information and creates networking groups to identify threats to Western civilization and to motivate, educate and unite citizens in support of” democracy and freedom.
This organization “promotes networking, activism and education”, defined as:
• The Islamic penetration of Europe
• Academic freedom
• Media Bias
• Missile Defense
• AFA Programs
In Los Angeles, California, the AFA will be hosting a conference (by invitation only) this month to discuss the West’s involvement in global governance and its implications on America’s national sovereignty.
Avi Davis, president of the AFA, explains that the conference will be issuing a “declaration on preserving national sovereignty that will be sent to world leaders and former world leaders”.
According to Davis, the AFA have been “working with several foreign policy advisers of the Romney campaign in an effort to feed them information about the seriousness of the global governance message.”
Davis believes that: “We need…to expose the true motivations…of those pushing international standards in human rights, environmental regulation and the laws of war upon us. It is not to better our lives – or anybody else’s lives. It is to control us.”
The adaptation of global governance is posing a real threat to the basic notion of American sovereignty. The Obama administration is even now attempting to align America in servitude to Israel .
The House of Representatives passed the United States – Israel Enhanced Security Cooperation Act of 2012 (USIESC).
• This legislation pledges to Israel:
• American money through the Federal Reserve
• Military support in Israeli war endeavors
• US governmental protection against the UN should Israel’s actions against other nations be remanded by international law
The AFA have also tried to contact the House Sovereignty Caucus (HSC) in Washington D.C., as well as Senators John Kyl and Jim DeMint who have expressed concern about the Obama administration’s move toward adopting international law within the US that undermines American independence and sovereignty.
The HSC is the project of Republican Representatives Doug Lamborn, Scott Garrett, and Thaddeus McCotter, who are very alarmed about “Americans ceding their rights to foreign institutions.”
Representative Paul Brown, addressed the audience, saying: “I have said for years that we ought to get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US. I’ll do everything I can in the Congress to maintain the U.S. as a sovereign nation, subservient to no one but the almighty God.”
American rights and national interests have been threatened by the emergence of international law played off as new US trends. Treaties require 67 votes from US Senators to be ratified and the HSC is trying to convince as many Senators as possible that this action incrementally removes America’s foundation as a sovereign nation.
For example, while the UN was attempting to control how American parents are allowed to discipline their children and send them to the religious school of their choice, the HSC introduced a Constitutional Amendment that preserved those American values over international mandates.
The Senate Foreign Relations Committee hopes to have the US Congress ratify the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (LOST). This treaty, conceived in 1982, will give the UN sole governance over the rights and regulations of all the world’s seas, oceans and bodies of water.
Obama signed his executive order Stewardship of the Oceans, Our Coasts and the Great Lakes and the Interim Report of the Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force (IOPTF).
The purpose of IOPTF is to adhere to LOST. The report will provide the framework for planning and conservation, economic endeavors, user adherence and sustainable use; as well as social justice, as dictated by LOST and the UN. An estimated $900 million will be used for the http://www.whitehouse.gov/assets/documents/09_17_09_Interim_Report_of_Task_Force_FINAL2.pdf” implementation of a global approachto our land, oceans, coastal areas and Great Lakes.
Both Senators and House Representatives are skeptical about how international laws and agreements will over-reach the rights of Americans to remain an independent country.
Myron Edell, director of energy and global warming policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute (CEI) states: “At the one end, the American people are very suspicious of more United Nations involvement in their lives. When you’re saying that you’ll put the UN in charge of the oceans, that’s pretty strongly opposed by the American people. But at the other end, most Washington insiders, a lot of experts who work on this, a lot of admirals, say we ought to do that and say that the problems have been fixed since President Reagan opposed it. So we’re not a very broad coalition.”
One supporter of the ratification of UN international treaties in the US is Don Kraus, the CEO of Citizens for Global Solutions (CGS) remarks that: “The fight over the Law of the Sea has been a textbook example of the politics of intensity trumping the politics of common sense. The treaty’s narrow group of opponents have whipped up conspiracy theories to feed political temper tantrums in swing states.”
According to Baker Spring, fellow at the Heritage Foundation , Obama is campaigning to have international law and treaties coalesced into US legislation, beginning with the ratification of the LOST treaty. Spring says: “We have a president in office who is potentially serious about this agenda. Nobody held the view that George W. Bush was going to scurry down a road that would undermine our national sovereignty.”
The Obama administration has utilized social networking sites and fake grassroots campaigns to promote support for the ratification of LOST.
At a Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting last month, Hillary Clinton, Secretary of State, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, and senior defense officials like General Martian Dempsey, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff tried to entice the Congressional panel into supporting the US government’s ratification of LOST.
Panetta said: “If we are not a party to [the LOST] treaty and can’t deal with it at the (negotiating) table, then we have to deal with it at sea with our naval power. And once that happens, you clearly increase the risk of confrontation.”
The AFA is primarily focused on the “epic struggle . . . between the forces of global governance and American constitutional democracy.” The agenda of the conference will center on “trans-nationalists in the United Nations and the European Union, but more importantly among America’s elites, are seeking to establish a ‘global rule of law’ which would make American constitutional law subservient to a global authority.”
Topics during the conference will be:
• Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) as purveyors of global governance
• Europe is a model for transnational global governance
• The Green Movement
• Agenda 21
• Global warming alarmists as fronts for global governance
• Rules governing the internet used to undermine national sovereignty
• Human rights used to undermine sovereignty
• Demonization/diminishment of the United States and Israel as a chief global governance strategy
• Case studies of U.S. judicial decisions which have diminished U.S. sovereignty
• The politicization of International Law and its impact on national sovereignty
• How to use the political process to thwart and defeat global governance activism
Organizations like the AFA are bringing the agenda of the UN to the general population. Awareness of this international body’s attack on our rights and liberties as Americans is essential to remaining a Constitutional Republic.
