AMANDA Bynes could remain at a mental health facility for the next year, according to a new report.
TMZ reports a judge has granted Amanda’s doctors’ request for a long-term hold.
“Sources tell us the doctors then transferred control of the hold to Amanda’s mother,” the outlet claims.
Lynn Bynes is currently acting as the actor’ temporary conservator and has apparently agreed to have her daughter moved from a facility in Thousand Oaks, California to UCLA Medical Center, where she will remain until she stabilises.
Lynn’s lawyer declined to confirm the report but said photos of a woman earlier identified as the 27-year-old entering the facility on Friday were not in fact Amanda.
Insiders say it is “unlikely” the star will remain under a psychiatric hold for another 12 months.
She is expected to remain in care for another 60 days before being moved into her mother’s California home.
Amanda’s publicist earlier this week said the former child actor is getting better every day since she was admitted to a mental health facility last month after setting a fire in a residential driveway in Thousand Oaks.
“Despite some reports, Amanda is improving daily and responding well,” Jonathan Jaxson told Entertainment Tonight.
“There is still a long road ahead, and that doesn’t mean being confined to a locked-down treatment centre … Amanda is in the best hands presently, medically, and each day her condition is being monitored,” he continued.
Lynn Bynes was granted temporary rights to her life decision and assets by a Ventura County, California judge.
She currently retains control of Amanda’s estate and will have the final call on her medical care in addition to where she lives.
The temporary conservatorship expires on September 30 at which point Lynn will be allowed to file for an extension.
