He appears on the FBI’s most wanted terrorist list, wanted in the US for “conspiracy
to kill United States nationals, to murder, to destroy buildings and
property of the United States, and to destroy the National Defense utilities
of the United States.” He is widely believed to have been behind the 7
August 1998 bombings of US embassies in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, and
Nairobi, Kenya, which killed hundreds and is suspected of having set up
training camps for the organisation in Sudan, Pakistan and Afghanistan in
the 1990s. There is a $5m reward for information leading to his location.
