nsnbc : The Al-Qaeda liked Jabhat al-Nusrah front refuses to release capture Lebanese soldiers and police officers, captured by the terrorist insurgency in August 2014. The release was spoiled due to last-minute demands by Al-Nusrah.
Jabhat al-Nusrah is fighting against the Syrian Arab Army and the Lebanese Hezbollah in Syria as well as in parts of Lebanon.
The insurgency is being in part overtly, in part covertly backed by Israel, via the Israeli occupied Syrian Golan and the Israeli occupied Lebanese Sheba Farms area, by Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and other NATO member States.
In August 2014 an Al-Nusrah brigade took several Lebanese soldiers and police officers hostage during an incursion of both Al-Nusrah and the Islamic State, a.k.a. ISIS, ISIL or Daesh into the border town of Arsal.
Efforts to finally secure their release over the weekend were spoiled by last-minute demands. The head of Lebanon’s General Security, Major General Abbas Ibrahim, told the press that the Lebanese government had met all of Al-Nusrah’s demands, including the release of several Islamist prisoners who are jailed in Lebanon. Negotiations between Lebanese authorities and Al-Nusrah were facilitated by the Qatari government which also is one of Al-Nusrah’s sponsors. Major General Ibrahim told the press that:
