Federal Liberal MP Ross Vasta has been questioned by federal police investigating a dispute between the politician and a former girlfriend, according to media reports.
The Nine Network reported several federal police officers went to Mr Vasta’s house in the Brisbane suburb of Carina Heights on Wednesday.
A statement from the Vasta family said officers were not looking at matters relating to Mr Vasta’s parliamentary duties.
“Their inquiries centre around a dispute between him and a former girlfriend,” the statement provided to Channel Nine said.
It is believed the dispute centres around an exchange of emails.
The Australian Federal Police confirmed to AAP that officers had attended a Brisbane residential address on Wednesday morning “in relation to an ongoing inquiry where we spoke to Mr Vasta”.
“Mr Vasta and the other resident of the premises were co-operative with police and are currently assisting with inquiries.”
Mr Vasta was first elected to the House of Representatives as member for Bonner at the 2004 federal election.
